SUMMARY:September Chapter Meeting - Regenerative Economics for a Safe and Prosperous Future
DESCRIPTION:Effectively dealing with the climate crisis and other environmental crises will require us to rethink our fundamental assumptions about how humans relate to each other and the natural world\, via our participation in the global economy. In this presentation\, we will explore how our current “extractive” approach to generating products and services got us into this mess\, and how we can get out of it by moving to a more “regenerative” economic model. Here in upstate New York\, we are well positioned to lead this transition\, beginning with some simple changes in how climate advocates talk about the journey ahead.\n\n\n\n\nAbout Our Presenter\nAbigail McHugh-Grifa was a founding member of the Climate Solutions Accelerator of the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region and New York State’s first Mothers Out Front chapter. Her early climate advocacy work also included co-coordinating Rochester’s Citizens’ Climate Lobby chapter. She currently serves as the Accelerator’s Executive Director and is a member of New York State’s Climate Justice Working Group.
